lacuna...

Thanks to Mel who pointed me to Jim Johnson's post that introduced me to Kay Ryan's poem Lacunae. Next week, I will be showing a small installation of my piece titled lacuna in the Pause to Begin exhibition at Booksmart Studios Gallery Kunstler in Rochester NY. The show runs for the month of January.

Lacunae
Kay Ryan

Lacunae aren't
what was going to be
empty anyway.
They aren't spaces
with uses, such as margins or highway edges.
Lacunae are losses
in the middle of places -
drops where something
documented happened
but the document is
gone - pond shaped
or jagged.
