Lefse in the making...

via iPhone

Well we started ricing the cold (previously boiled) potatoes at 11am and finished cooking the last (#50) piece of lefse at 4pm with two griddles going... here you can see my mother's excellent rolling technique while my griddle is cooking and then the unrolling on to grandma Ruth's griddle. Its all about the lefse stick.

Lefse weekend....

Three generation date on Saturday - my grandmother is going to teach my mother and I how to make Lefse. (Ok my mom already knows how to make it...)
A holiday treat... spread a little butter and brown sugar, roll and eat... Yum.
It is an all day affair... wish me luck!

Eva via Mike for Mel and Zoe...

After having the opportunity to see Zoe Strauss in action lecturing at AIC with my friend Mel Trittin ... I thought it fitting to share this Mike Mandel Eva Rubinstein trading card.

Atocha

Although we only spent a day and a half in the city of Madrid, we passed through the Atocha train station in Madrid many times during our travels in Spain. I loved the giant baby heads although I was scolded by security every time I attempted to stop and take a picture of them...

On Being and Nothingness... john divola

I am still trying to recover from jet lag today. Spain was amazing. The end of vacation is always bitter sweet... fortunately I had a lovely package from Nazraeli Press waiting for me when I got home. Inside was John Divola's new book, The Green of this Notebook, and another set of beautiful one picture books (two of which are authored by Todd Hido) Mark's recommendation to subscribe to the One Picture Books was some of the best advice I've received. Great deal. I only wish I had subscribed a few years earlier. Thanks friend! :)
