ink on paper...

I was honored to receive such an extensive review in print today. Thankfully, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has managed to keep their arts critic (unlike the Tribune). You can read it here.

Eirik Johnson's NEW book

Sawdust Mountain, Eirik Johnson's new work is beautiful and the book published by Aperture is a must have.
A culmination of four years photographing throughout the Northwestern United States, SAWDUST MOUNTAIN tells the story of the tenuous relationship between industries reliant upon natural resources and the communities they support.

Talk at Haggerty Art Museum...

For the very few of you whom may have time on Wednesday April 8th at 11:30am, I will be giving an informal talk about my work in the Current Tendencies: Ten Artists From Wisconsin

Lunchtime Learning with Sonja Thomsen.
Wednesday, April 8, 2009
11:30 a.m.
(in conjunction with Current Tendencies)
Free and open to the public

The show has not been reviewed as of yet but Mike Brenner did write a short recap of the show for The Decider.
Photographer and installation artist Sonja Thomsen explores the fragility of memory and experience in her piece "Lacuna." Serene images that capture private, contemplative moments in time are systematically scattered on the gallery walls. Several of the images are presented in stacks; like stories told again and again, the images start to fade and blur until, at the very bottom of the pile, only a blank piece of paper remains. - Mike Brenner for The Decider
