installed

Pieces from Surface 2004 and Churn 2006 installed at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art for the WI Triennial. The space is beautiful and airy. The glass stairs and 3 story windows looking out at State Street connect art and world in a brillant space.

another semester ends

Summer is offically here for those of us who teach at MIAD. I always find the end of the semester a bit disappointing. Some of the best work students create all semester is for a final assignment and there is no way to showcase that work to thier peers & the school outside of critique. In the past, I have organized a public exhibition of their work whether its in a coffee shop or city hall- this semester I was unable to find the time to make that happen. The following images are pieces from a "principles of photography" class. The students work with 4 x 5 cameras throughout the semester and their last assignment was exploring portraiture...

Milwaukee talks...

Three wonderful blogs by three photographers working in my home town that I really admire. Each navigating cyberspace to share their thoughts and opinions of contemporary photography and the artistic process.

Mel Trittin
Kevin Miyazaki
JW Lawson

(Not to mention that they are good bloggers and post regularly... sorry about the slow moving posts. Now that teaching has slowed down I hope to add to the conversation a bit more.)
